Description:
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs inspections, repairs, and replacement of aircraft structural components to include stringers, longerons, bulkheads, beams and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.
- Fabricates structural parts and forming blocks.
- Shapes metal using stretching, shrinking, and other metal forming techniques.
- Mixes and applies fiberglass materials.
- Makes unscheduled emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures.
- Uses the following: common measuring tools, precision measuring gages and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs.
- Mixes and applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces.
- Applies corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals.
- Requisitions and maintains shop and bench stock items for repair of aircraft structures.
- Uses and performs operator maintenance on common special tools.
- Prepares, reviews, and updates aircraft maintenance forms and records.
- Provides On-the-Job Training (OJT), coaching, and mentoring to RSLFAC personnel in all aspects of aircraft Sheetmetal tasks as necessary.
- Ensures that all related maintenance operations are conducted in a safe manner.
- Other tasks as directed by the Maintenance Lead.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Eight (8) years’ experience and two (2) within the last five (5) years as an aircraft Sheetmetal technician.
- Successfully completed and be qualified by the appropriate U.S. Government armed forces Sheetmetal Technician course or civilian equivalent training.
- Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms or similar aviation maintenance management system, and other aircraft related documentation.
- Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.
- Possess a valid state or Government issued driver’s license.
- Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire.
