Description:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer-Piping to join our engineering team for a major Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) project.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in review/approval of the FEED engineering activities and deliverables, i.e. design calculation, piping layout drawings, specification, and optimization of piping systems and associated valves for oil & gas, and petrochemical projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure all mechanical piping designs meet project requirements, standards, and client expectations. Familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards and experience in major brownfield FEED/EPC projects will be an advantage for the candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Piping Systems (Piping, Supports, Valves, and all associated Fittings).
- Technical/Engineering Roles:
- Prepare/review detailed engineering piping design, specification and technical datasheets of valves, and all associated fittings for FEED projects.
- Prepare/review detailed piping design 2D/3D layout drawings for mechanical piping systems, ensuring they meet defined project scope and requirements.
- Review/approval flow simulation and design calculation reports.
- Review/approval stress analysis and flow calculation reports to ensure piping mechanical system integrity and compliance with relevant standards and codes (API, ASME, SAES).
- Review/approval material requisition and MTOs during FEED stage.
- Materials science/selection, considering factors such as thermal conditions, fluid types, and pressure ratings.
- Manage/review vendors document to evaluate options and provide technical bid evaluation TBE.
- Problem Solving Roles:
- Identify/analyze FEED technical issues (Piping design specs, vibration, support failure, thermal stress and corrosion etc.) related to design and installation of piping systems and provide technical solutions during FEED phase.
- Risk Mitigation Roles:
- Participate in HAZOP session.
- Identify & mitigate technical risks associated with piping systems during FEED phase.
- Collaboration and Teamwork Roles:
- Coordinate with client and FEED engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure piping systems are well integrated into overall project defined scope and requirements.
- Provide technical inputs during project reviews, progress meetings, and design workshops to ensure piping systems are aligned with project objectives and client expectations.
Must Have Qualification/Experience
- B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering, M.Sc. preferred.
- At least 12 years work experience in piping engineering design and installation.
- Stress analysis, material selection and 2D/3D piping layout drawings.
- Good understanding of P&ID and PFD.
- Good Knowledge of flow simulation, design calculation (pipe thickness, pressure drop, pressure ratings and thermal expansion) for piping system.
- Able to identify piping design mistakes and set corrective actions to solve them during FEED engineering phase.
- Strong Knowledge of design codes (ASME 31.1, ASME 31.3 and API).
- Good Knowledge of MS office and CAD software.
- Good Knowledge of stress analysis software.
Additional Qualifications/Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) or chartered Engineer (CEng).
- PMP certification.
- Vendors management and procurement support.
- Material estimation cost.
