Are you a hydrology expert with an eye for detail and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability? Technical Development Solutions, a leading consulting firm and a key part of the Al Mousa Group, is seeking an exceptional Senior Hydrologist to lead our water resource management efforts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Our team is looking for an experienced hydrologist to maintain and develop our water management techniques and strategy. Your primary responsibilities will be measuring water quantity and properties, such as streamflow. You’ll collect data and analyze it to detect the level of contamination.

With the use of computer-aided technology, you’ll also predict water supplies and forecast floods and droughts. Last but not least, you’ll collaborate with our engineering and scientific team in big projects, such as building irrigation systems.

To succeed in this role, it’s important to have computational and analytical skills. Experience in computer modeling and preparing reports are also necessary to complete your job duties.

What You'll Command:

· Estimate water properties (e.g. volume, mass)

· Manage the installation of wadi flow gauges

· Calculate and audit water resource systems and analyze this data

· Oversee data collection on-site, carried out by hydrometrists and other staff

· Supervise the collection, processing and evaluation of data for water resource planning and flood management

· Use computer modelling packages to assess the most effective methods of managing available water in a particular area, including for forecasting and strategic planning purposes

· Analyze the effect of environmental changes on water flow

· Study the effects on flows brought about by changes in land use, such as afforestation or crop irrigation

· Plan responses to specific weather conditions, such as droughts and floods, and assess their impact on water catchments and supplies

· Estimate water yields, taking into account natural drainage

· Assess the relationship between rainfall, run off, and soil and rock features

· Investigate factors affecting acidity, nitrate levels or other diffuse pollution of surface water

· Develop computer systems to improve the efficiency of data collection and analysis and keep up to date with new research and techniques.

 

Who You Are:

  • A holder of a bachelor’s degree in Hydrology from a recognized and approved program. A master’s degree in hydrology is preferred.
  • 10-15 years of hands-on experience, highlighted by a trail of successful hydrology projects.
  • Bilingual prowess in Arabic and English, with communication skills that captivate.
  • A maestro of advanced hydrological software, GIS applications, and data management systems.
  • A strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving acumen.
  • Credentialed or connected with prestigious hydrological societies.
  • Intimately versed in Saudi Arabian business etiquette and regulatory landscapes.
