Essential Job Duties
- Executes work against established project management policies, plans, and programs for the orderly execution of projects
- Establishes and implements staffing plans for the project management function on proposals, programmed overhead, and awarded projects
- Regularly monitors the progress of active projects and ensures that responsible actions are being taken by members of the project team
- Reviews and approves project execution plans, project plans and programs, and other critical project plans and/or documents
- Supervises assigned staff and provides for proper delegation of management authority, responsibility, and accountability
- Ensures that project related problems are resolved promptly and that an integrated approach is followed in the performance of the project
- Reviews and approves the release of project cost estimates, schedules, major trends, and forecasts to customers. Also reviews and approves major changes or deviations to these control documents.
- Responsible for a multi-functional team who have management oversight and compliance of the contractor, ensuring works are carried out as per the drawings, specifications and standards, as per schedule and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards and local/national regulatory safety codes
- Coordinates with Engineering Department to ensure complete design packages are issued to Contractors as well as resolving Technical Queries (TQ’s), Request for Information (RFI) and Field Changes
- Lead and coordinate with contractors, engineers, client, and other stakeholders
- Engages with stakeholders at project level when required to improve underperformance
- Ensure the closure of each project is systematic and complete in all respects
- Maintains an effective relationship with other client, third party stakeholders and functional departments and coordinates all jobsite contractual activities
Qualifications, Experience, Job Knowledge And Skill Set Requirements
- A recognized bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil /Mining Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline is preferred, or minimum 20 years of experience in construction
- Minimum 20 years of experience in heavy civil related projects with significant Civil works scope in a leadership role
- Experience of managing surface and tunnel excavation or mining in very hard rock (eg blocky granite) by drill and blast methods in either a PMC or a contractor role
- Experience of planning for the safe blasting operations, rock removal, haulage and processing
- Experience of leading productivity improvements in the cycle time of hard rock excavations through influence among external stakeholders including client and authority having jurisdiction for the storage, movement and placement of explosive materials
- Thorough knowledge of international standards and specification and codes as applicable including safety procedures associated with construction works
- Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC, either on Construction Management role or Direct Construction experience on construction projects
- Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the Client, Contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle
- Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment, with a passion to take ownership of projects and provide sound technical leadership to contractor’s staff and field engineers
