Description:
Essential Job Duties
- Recommends the construction engineering planning and sequence of work packages.
- Coordinates with engineering on constructability and design issues.
- Establishes working relationship and lines of communication with the Design and Field Engineering including agreement on engineering deliverables.
- Responsible for quantity validation, reporting and forecasting.
- Monitors the design of temporary construction facilities for excavation (permanent sequencing works and temporary quarries), access roads and camp utilities and facilities.
- Supports the construction automation plan and the project controls program at the jobsite.
- Supports the development of the project construction procedures from the Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) and Employer Requirements (ER).
- Supports the construction quality program and the resolution of escalated issues from the contractors’ Inspection & Test Plans.
- Validates contractor activities, materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications.
- Works with customer’s engineering and operating personnel to organize construction verification activities.
- Coordinates field changes and non conformance issues and represents construction in resolutions.
Qualifications, Experience, Job Knowledge And Skill Set Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical engineering
- Experience either in contractor or PMC role in construction of large construction projects
- Technical knowledge of all phases of construction and engineering projects
- Knowledge of all phases of construction activities including jobsite setup, contractor mobilization, construction operations, punch list and contractor site closeout.
- Experience in Public Private Partnerships or Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Maintain (DBFOM) execution models
- Experience in accommodation facility installations such as:
- Obtaining fire and life safety occupancy certification from Authorities Having Jurisdiction such as Civil Defense
- Managing contractors and material suppliers to tight deadlines
- Resolving issues with supply of modular buildings from outside the country
- Installation of time critical components such as kitchen equipment
- Provision of interim accommodations for the workers who are building the final product
- Managing the process of operational readiness and transfer to operations of the camp and camp operations
- Knowledge of MEP systems such as HVAC systems, fire suppression and life safety systems, power generation systems, electrical supply and distribution, telecommunications, gas distribution, for industrial or commercial facilities as well as residential applications.
- Knowledge of Lock-out/Tag-out or Energy Isolation controls and practices
- Knowledge of the use of contracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in contract documents.
- Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the Client, Contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Must have good oral and written communication skills in English
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
- Must be prepared to live and work in a remote construction camp environment
- Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred.
