Major Responsibilities
- Management of design activities and coordination of workloads for Water projects
- Plan, coordinate, manage and monitor review of design deliverables for Water projects produced by client’s design consultant, including reports, providing feedback to Design Project Manager regarding progress, key issues and risk.
- Coordinate and manage review of design consultant’s hazard and risk logs.
- Coordinate responses to comments raised on deliverables by subject matter experts, design review team, Independent Checking Engineer, and Independent Safety Assessors.
- Ensure buildability and material suitability of proposed designs.
- Coordinate engineering efforts between specialty and engineering groups or disciplines, with client, suppliers, and contractors.
- Coordinate and visit jobsite to resolve problems, interpret drawings and documents and provide technical support during construction phase.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, consultants, and attend project meetings.
- Coordinate with Contracts Department and Construction teams for supporting pre-construction procurement process and checking and assembly of design documentation for issue as design-build or design-bid-build tender packages.
- Review contractor’s construction drawings, respond to technical queries and technical submittals for design intent compliance.
- Review design and engineering studies prepared by local and international engineering firms
- Review changes or deviations in design scope, material quantities, budget or schedule, and assist with defining the change, obtaining accurate job hour estimates, and recommending budget adjustments.
- Participate in site visits and investigations led by designers.
- Take active role in design reviews, interdisciplinary design reviews and provide comments.
- Perform work involving conventional design practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Provide guidance for assured design quality and compliance with client requirements, design guidelines, statutory requirements, local and international codes, standards and norms, and international standards of independent firms carrying out detailed design.

Skills And Qualifications
- Civil/Mechanical Engineering Degree from accredited university with 10+ years relevant design experience managing Water transmission projects.
- Experience managing design/installation/operation/maintenance of large-scale Water transmission systems, pumping stations and desalination plants.
- Experience in Hydraulic design, modelling, surge analysis, large diameter pipe & valve design for potable water networks.
- Experience in design-build and design-bid-build procurement with contractors and consultants
- Experience in field construction and initial acceptance inspection.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards for Water Engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, engineered systems design and design calculations.
- Knowledge of engineering design computer applications including appropriate knowledge of CAD (2-D and 3-D) MS Word and Excel for managing design reviews
- Understanding of roles played by other departments including basic construction practices and economics.
- A professional license from a recognized licensing or registration board.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills (oral and written).
