Podiatrist

 

Description:

The Podiatry Services aims to deliver high quality clinical care and to patients and carers. Delivery of education and training to staff and other service users is also a core part of the services responsibility around public health and prevention.

As a small team, covering a large geographical area – our Podiatrists need to be dynamic and responsive to a wide range of clinical presentations and people in the community. Podiatrists are typically based in specific Hubs (east, central or west) and will therefore have continuous access to peer support, clinical supervision and shadowing opportunities. Team education and training take place routinely and individuals are enabled to fulfil their own personal development plans. Individuals are supported to begin developing specialist interests in specific clinical topics and to participate in some specialist clinics.

Key responsibilities of the Podiatrist include.
 

  • Triage of referrals
  • Assessment and diagnosis of a diverse range of conditions
  • Tailoring treatment plans to the need of individuals, focussing is supported self-management where appropriate.
  • Working between community outpatient clinics, in-patients, nursing homes and patient’s houses.
     

Applicants should
 

  • Have a degree or diploma in Podiatry and be HCPC registered.
  • Possess refined interpersonal and communication skills, and be confident collaborating with all staff and the public (children and adults)
  • Hold a valid UK Drivers Licence and have access to a car. Occasional travel across NHS Borders Primary Care sites is required.
  • Actively promotes NHS Borders values.
