Job Responsibilities
The Construction Supervisor – Pipeline and Welding provides day to day oversight and direction to the Construction Engineers and Construction field personnel assigned to on-site construction projects. He or she is in charge of for protecting and promoting the interests and values of the company in all matters and to take actions as required to satisfy responsibilities. Strong and acted to delivering on safety on site operations and to all aspects of high quality on the scope of works. The Construction Supervisor – Pipeline and Welding brings specialized knowledge and experience in executing Civils projects for his or her area: is in charge of for coordination and interfaces between Contractors, disciplines managing performance of the works to meet schedules and milestones. Needs to be able to motivate the workforce and steer the team towards a culture of collaborative teamwork.
- Ensure safety and quality training programs are implemented and drive a culture of high standards
- Prepare for project startup with the Contractor and Project Manager. Execute project activities as required to meet day-to-day and overall objectives.
- Understand and apply the requirements in project documents about quality control procedures such as essaying, shop drawings, material approvals, samples, mock-ups, execution of the earthworks, etc.
- Become familiar with each job technical specification and follow the direction about performing work within the boundaries of the contract
- Keep the Construction Manager apprised of any change in contractor’s activity or cost prior to incurring additional time or materials outside of the project scope.
- Provide input on scheduling and placement of production methodology. Plan and review the construction project and contractors’ submittals with the Project Manager on a weekly basis. Supervise the site works on site
- Review the contractor’s method statement, risk assessment etc. and the preparation of weekly progress report, keep them properly updated, and ensure that everything feasible is done for the project to meet the required dates.
- Help the Construction Manager to ensure timely on-site delivery of materials and equipment furnished by the Contractor.
- Direct field staff to ensure their continued development by use of performance evaluations, varying assignments, and promoting positive project morale.
Job Knowledge And Requirements
- A bachelors or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, or qualifications in welding which demonstrate ability to guide the work of contractors’ welding programs
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction projects in a contractor or a PMC role
- Has proven experience and thorough knowledge in construction of large-scale welding programs including:
- Experience of large diameter potable water pipe installation techniques including manual and automatic carbon steel pipe welding and installation of pipe accessories and valve chambers
- Management of compliance of contractor welding programs and for adherence to certified weld procedures
- Management of compliance of contractor competent persons such as welder certifications
- Thorough knowledge of international standards and specification and codes (such as ASME welding codes) as applicable, including various safety procedures and practices associated.
- Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
- Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment, with a passion to take ownership of projects and provide sound technical leadership to contractor’s staff and construction engineers
- Experience of working and living in remote camp locations is preferred
