Major Responsibilities
- Establish/manage the overall engineering schedule, budget, work quality, client satisfaction and contribute leadership, experience and expertise in the solution of design and challenging problems.
- Review major changes or deviations in project scope, project material quantities, budget and schedule, and assist particularly with defining the change, obtaining accurate estimates of the hours involved, and recommending budget adjustment.
- Direct and provide technical and administrative guidance to assigned Project and/or discipline Engineers in the management of engineering work related with Water projects.
- Assist and manage the review of deliverables produced by the designer, including schedules, reports, hazard and risk logs.
- Assist and visit jobsite as required to resolve problems by interpreting drawings and documents.
- Chair weekly progress meetings and other technical meetings as required.
- Participate in engineering reviews including stage gate reviews, interdisciplinary design reviews and comments (IDR/IDC), and value engineering workshops.
- Prepare and lead presentations to the Client team on all technical aspects for the work area package.
- Provide guidance and ensure engineering quality design and compliance with NEOM requirements, local design guidelines, local codes, international codes, and international standards for independent engineering firms that are carrying out the detailed engineering design.
- Report progress, critical issues, and risk to EPM Directors.
- Ensure their own and others’ health and safety.
- Conduct annual performance reviews.
Qualifications And Skills
- Civil / Structural Engineering Degree from an accredited university with 20+ years of relevant experience in the water industry.
- Experience in design management and execution of water retaining structures, reinforced concrete structures, high walls, retaining structures and hybrid in-situ concrete / precast concrete projects.
- Experience in managing the design, construction, testing and commissioning of Water storage projects with a focus on large capacity storage reservoirs, tank farms and pumping stations.
- Experience in Hydraulic design and CFD modelling is an advantage.
- Experience in both design-build and design-bid-build forms of contract with contractors and consultants.
- Experience in testing, commissioning and handover preferable.
- Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems and design calculations including codes and standards.
- Knowledge of industry standard design software such as Bentley WaterGEMS, AutoCAD, Revit is an advantage.
- A professional licensed engineer from a recognized licensing or registration board is preferred.
- Ability to solve problems by thinking laterally and be able to drive the needs and requirements of the client, entities and their EPMO’s.
- Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and manage relationships across a range of entities.
