Description:
Responsibilities
-Experience in both design-build and design-bid-build forms of procurement with contractors and consultants.
-Proficient knowledge of Civil/Mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
- Developing company-wide frameworks and design systems in relation to civil and mechanical engineering.
-Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.
-Developing guidelines to ensure all design decisions minimize cost and time overruns, whilst continuing to deliver high quality projects.
-Overseeing the design submittals/loading assumptions, soft and hard copies of calculations and drawings to provide comments and assurance on design standards, codes of safety and stability, strength and stiffness specifications where needed.
-Working knowledge of relevant local jurisdiction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
-Reviews private project development plans for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards, adequacy of applications for permits, and compliance with approved plans.
- Participates in the development and implementation of the Engineering Department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; evaluates the operations and activities of the Department.
- Reviewing and distributing reports to project management in relation to any Engineering updates.
-Hiring new team members, supervising, and guiding multiple engineering teams, and identifying training opportunities and career development strategies to help the team improve.
-Mentoring of junior level project managers as a part of a development initiative.
-Collaborates with other team leaders and departments.
Skills
-Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects.
-Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design including appropriate knowledge of CAD (both 2-D and 3-D) e.g., AutoCAD, MS Word, and Excel for managing design reviews.

-Civil/Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited university with 20+ years of relevant experience in design management, related to Water projects including management of wet utilities.
-Have an existing network of design consultants with proven capabilities in mixed-use development.
