Description:
The Construction Engineer is at the front-line of Bechtel’s construction operations on the Trojena Project responsible for work completion of major earthworks, roads, steelwork, concrete works for foundations, abutments, piers and retaining walls and slope protection. Overseeing multiple Contractors complete the shop drawings, Construction, testing, and commissioning of the works.
Performs construction/engineering assignments of a varied nature requiring a full working knowledge of construction engineering practices and the exercise of professional judgment within the framework of broad guidelines provided by superiors.
The Construction Engineer reviews all quality assurance and health & safety documentation, and construction method statements and is then responsible for working with the Contractor to implement these practices on the construction site. The Construction Engineer is responsible for overseeing all appointed Contractor’s job site activities and ensure that the construction operations and contractor’s performance follow project ES&H, quality, schedule requirements, whilst maintaining effective relationships when interfacing with stakeholders and general public.
Major Responsibilities
- Construction oversight and compliance of contractors, ensuring works are carried out as per the drawings, specifications and standards, as per schedule and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards and local/national regulatory safety codes
- Coordinate performance of the installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems
- Input to ensure continuous construction work fronts availability through review of look ahead schedules, commodity charts, resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules and any other service requirements including contractor submittals
- Responsible for reviewing and approving the contractor's submittals, technical queries, Field change documents and other technical documents including Drawings and As-Builts
- Ensure all materials and equipment on the site fully comply with international standard and technical specification requirements
- Responsible for construction oversight and compliance of Civil contractors, ensuring works are carried out as per the drawings, specifications and standards, as per schedule and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards and local/national regulatory safety code
- Responsible for reporting to the Construction Manager for the site supervision of works, review compliance of Contractors in executing temporary works, foundation works and superstructure installation.
- Assists construction supervision in planning construction methods, constructability reviews and compliance with NEOM procedures.
- Coordinates engineering or construction problems with Construction Manager and/ or Site Manager.
- Identifies construction quality, safety and schedule issues and makes the responsible Construction Manager aware of said issues.
- Review estimating quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials submitted by the contractor and report discrepancies to his supervisor.
- Coordinating interior design materials selection with involved stakeholders.
- Assists in coordination of vendor material deliveries, storage of materials, expediting and engineering reports related to the schedule.
- Maintain a zero-accident policy on site with the contractor through regular participation in the clients' health and safety programs and undertaking regular health and safety audits on site.
