Buro Happold is looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic Associate Security Consultant to join our team of Security Consultants within our vibrant multi-disciplinary practice. This varied role will include the preparation and coordination of physical security design advice for the development of industry-leading projects, across a broad range of market sectors.

You'll be delivering security consultancy and master planning as part of single and multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects in the ME and internationally, encompassing airports, sports stadia, entertainment and performance venues, world-class higher education facilities, transport hubs, museums, advanced hi-tech facilities and more.  You will be client-facing and on a day-to-day basis cover security consultancy, design, project management, operational advice, business development, and even research and development.  You

What sort of projects could I work on?

The Security Consulting team is responsible for developing high-quality protective security designs for many large-scale projects based across the globe. Due to an increased demand for our services the team is seeking additional support to deliver high quality, high-value solutions to our clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of protective security concept and strategy designs on a range of challenging projects, examples across the Middle East primarily focussing on projects within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

You will be focused on protective security design and the role will also require knowledge and experience of operational security. You will work within our Security Consulting Group and collaborate with other disciplines including but not limited to Technology, Lighting, Smart Buildings, MEP as well as working directly with clients, end-users, and contractors.

What will I be doing?

Most of your role will involve strategic and operational issues; however, you will work alongside our security engineers who provide the technical input into the projects.

Naturally, the role will be highly varied but typical responsibilities are likely to include.
 

• Assessing threats, vulnerabilities, and risk to produce risk registers.
• Developing security strategies to statuary requirements.
• Producing new design concepts whilst keeping abreast of emerging threats and trends.
• Providing high-level advice to clients in relation to the appropriate security technologies in security.
• Developing and delivering testing programmes and exercises to assure security programme integrity.
• Supervising and mentoring graduate security consultants.
• Researching and writing standards, policies, procedures and work instructions for security operations
• Researching and writing protective security intelligence reports and assessments.
• Able to develop and deliver Master planning and Asset delivery security mitigation strategies within the built environment.
• Confidently deliver a Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (TVRA) aligned to industry standards such as ISO31000 Risk Management model.
• Able to apply Crime Prevention Thru Environmental Design (CPTED), Secure By Design within the Built environment.
• Able to identify and work to RIBA design process.
• Provide insight into Hostile Vehicle Mitigation and its application (Basic level to Advanced)
• Concept/Schematic understanding of deployment of security systems such as Video Surveillance, Alarm Monitoring, Access Control, Command and Control Rooms (engineering level not required) to our clients
