Area Director

 

Description:

Area Project Director with operational supervision over a large multi-disciplined team managing the delivery of a large rail project. On point as part of the Bechtel-Client integrated team, responsibilities will include overseeing construction activities, management of contactors, progress reporting, interface, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will have experience of leading and managing large infrastructure construction projects within complex environments.

Primary Responsibilities
 

  • Ensuring that safety and quality are managed and maintained to world class standards.
  • Monitoring budget and schedule and regular reporting of progress to the Client.
  • Administration of the contracts to Client appointed contractors.
  • Ensuring effective implementation of Constructability, Construction Lessons, Design for Safe Construction, construction productivity initiatives, datacentric construction and other work processes identified on the project.
  • Participates in and coordinates Constructability meetings, planning meetings at early stage and initiate constructability program on the project, including other home office construction activities in accordance with relevant SWPPs, IWPPs and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
  • Management and coordination of change between stakeholders, designers and contractors in design or construction methods.
  • Maintain effective interface between construction teams at other Bechtel managed jobsites ensuring construction knowledge, lessons learned and construction’s input to design is incorporated.
  • Work proactively with Project Engineering Managers, Project Controls Leads, Contracts and Procurement Leads, ensuring effective inter-functional interface on the projects.
  • Monitor completeness of engineering data in construction applications.
  • Directs the project team on management of design discrepancies or trends that may be detrimental to the safe construction of the projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of construction manuals, field non-manual support proposals, internal desktop procedures for construction activities.
  • Assist with procurement, project planning and long-term delivery strategy.
  • Ensuring engineering deliverables submitted by various package vendors are reviewed and feedback is provided on sequencing and constructability.
  • Monitor execution methodology on projects and promotion of continuous improvement.
  • Champions the creation of a project work environment, supported by leadership on the project/program, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Review of Contract construction requirements including Client’s specifications.
  • Ensures that construction procedures, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction or procurement are reviewed and approved.
  • Guides preparation of project execution plan, including providing Construction’s input to Project Controls on sequencing and scheduling of field activities on infrastructure projects.
  • Ensuring adequate supervision of construction engineering efforts, such as preparation of construction method statements, installation work packages, construction MTOs, constriction estimation for bulks, estimation of indirect services involved in construction.
