Duties & Responsibilities
- Calculating insurance claims payments, premiums, and other figures using software programs such as Excel
- Reviewing insurance contracts to determine if coverage is adequate for the risk being insured
- Preparing reports for management regarding the financial status of insurance companies, including recommendations for changes in rates or coverage
- Investigating insurance claims to determine whether they should be paid or denied
- Calculating the amount of premiums owed by policyholders based on risk factors such as age and location
- Analyzing data to determine trends in claims frequency or patterns of loss
- Providing advice to insurance clients regarding coverage options based on their risk tolerance and financial goals
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5+ years’ experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in insurance accounting
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
